Cyber / Resiliency SME

Employment Type: Contractor
Location: Falls Church
Work Setting: On-Site
Clearance/Elegibility: Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
Industry/Client Area: DoW/ Military
Salary Range: $170K to $190K

About the Role

The Cyber / Resiliency SME provides project-specific expertise in cyber architecture, resilience, trust, degraded operations, configuration risk, and mission continuity. Working across assigned projects, the SME ensures technical vulnerabilities and dependencies are translated into operationally meaningful findings and transition considerations.

Why the Role Is Needed

Cyber and infrastructure dependencies directly shape mission continuity, data integrity, and operator trust. This role connects those dependencies to operational outcomes. Specialist analysis helps the Assessments team characterize supported risks and develop practical resilience recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Technical assessment: Assess cyber architecture, authentication, hosting, data protection, configuration management, software provenance, failover, and resilience considerations relevant to assigned projects.
  • Mission impact analysis: Evaluate how cyber and infrastructure risks affect mission continuity, operator trust, data integrity, and operational suitability.
  • Assessment event support: Support REX/event observation, technical interviews, evidence requests, and risk characterization without overstating unvalidated vulnerabilities.
  • Non-materiel implications: Identify implications for policy, procedures, training, account/device management, and degraded operations.
  • Product contributions: Contribute SME findings directly to CARs, CONOPS, TTPs, and transition recommendations.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8 years of relevant experience (proposed minimum; subject to HR/contract validation).
  • Experience in cybersecurity, cyber systems engineering, resilient architectures, zero trust, RMF/ATO environments, or operational cyber assessment.
  • Ability to distinguish observed risk, technical evidence, and unresolved questions with appropriate rigor.
  • Strong understanding of mission impacts associated with cyber and infrastructure dependencies.
  • Clear technical writing and communication skills.

Preferred

  • DoD 8140/8570-aligned certification (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting DoD test and evaluation or joint assessment events.
  • Active security clearance at the level required by the contract.
