Position Overview
PAC Group LLC is seeking a compassionate, professional, and patient-centered Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care to adult and pediatric patients.
This is primarily a full-time position. However, the client is also open to hiring a qualified Optometrist on a part-time basis for two to three days per week.
The ideal candidate will combine strong clinical capabilities with humility, professionalism, emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to patient care.
Experienced Optometrists and qualified recent graduates seeking mentorship are encouraged to apply.
This position is well suited for an Optometrist who wants to work in an independent practice environment where quality of care, continuity of care, and long-term patient relationships are valued over high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities
The Optometrist will:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for adult and pediatric patients.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage ocular diseases and conditions.
- Perform contact lens evaluations, fittings, and follow-up care.
- Conduct and interpret visual field testing.
- Perform refractions and assist with pre-testing procedures when necessary.
- Educate patients regarding eye health, preventive care, treatment recommendations, and proper contact lens use.
- Provide postoperative care, patient recall services, and continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Complete charts and documentation required for billing and patient-care purposes.
- Work collaboratively with technicians, administrative staff, other providers, and practice leadership.
- Provide care at the Shelton and Orange locations based on the agreed-upon schedule.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members.
- Help ensure that patient care, charting, and clinical documentation remain current.
- Support workflow improvements, patient growth, and the continued development of the practice.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and patient-first approach in all interactions.
Schedule and Patient Volume
The practice offers flexibility when determining specific workdays, particularly for part-time providers.
Full-time and part-time schedules will be established based on provider availability and the operational needs of the Shelton and Orange locations.
For a full clinical day, the Optometrist is generally expected to see approximately 15–19 patients.
The practice emphasizes quality of care, appropriate patient education, and meaningful patient relationships. It does not operate as a high-volume, production-driven environment.
The general full-time operating schedule is:
- Monday through Wednesday: Approximately 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Thursday: Approximately 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
- Friday: Approximately 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Hours and location assignments may evolve as the practice continues to grow.
Part-time providers will generally work two to three mutually agreed-upon days per week.
Required Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess:
- A Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution.
- A current Connecticut Optometrist license or eligibility and willingness to obtain Connecticut licensure.
- Professional credentials that are active and in good standing.
- Experience conducting comprehensive eye examinations.
- Experience performing contact lens evaluations and fittings.
- Experience performing or interpreting visual field testing.
- Knowledge of ocular disease diagnosis and management, including conditions such as cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.
- Proficiency with refraction, pre-testing, and standard optometry equipment.
- The ability to provide postoperative and continuity-of-care services.
- Strong documentation and chart-completion skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively with patients, staff members, and other healthcare professionals.
- The ability and willingness to provide care at both the Shelton and Orange locations.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is preferred but not required:
- Optomap experience.
- Optical Coherence Tomography experience.
- Compulink experience.
- Low vision services experience.
- Vision therapy exposure.
- LASIK co-management experience.
- Experience providing care to both adults and children.
- Previous private-practice or independent-practice experience.
- Spanish-language proficiency, particularly for serving patients at the Orange location.
- Residency training or other advanced clinical training.
- Experience with prescription dispensing.
- Interest in leadership, patient growth, business development, or process improvement.
- Training on Compulink and practice-specific procedures may be provided.

Full-Time Compensation and Benefits

Daily compensation will range from $550–$650 per day, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The practice offers flexibility in selecting part-time workdays based on a mutually agreed-upon schedule.
During the First Six Months
- No formal paid time off.
- Two paid Continuing Education days.

After Six Months of Employment
- Three paid personal/PTO days annually.
