SCA Health & Welfare Fringe Benefit: Estimated at $4.57 per hour, subject to the applicable wage determination
Estimated Total Hourly Compensation Value: $22.91 per hour, including base wage and estimated H&W
Estimated Total Annual Compensation Value: $47,652.80 annually, based on 40 hours per week

SCA Health & Welfare may be provided through qualified benefits, cash-in-lieu where applicable, or a combination of both, in accordance with the applicable wage determination, contract requirements, and company policy.

 

Position Summary

Team PAC Group is seeking a Library Technician to support the Virtual Technical Library (VTL) for the Military Sealift Command (MSC) in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Library Technician will assist with the day-to-day operations of the technical library, maintain technical documentation, support document control activities, and provide reliable customer service to government and internal stakeholders. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow established procedures, and the ability to work in office, shipyard, military, and maritime environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations of the technical library.
  • Manage available library space, including rearranging and redistributing documents as directed by the Library Supervisor.
  • Maintain technical data spaces and ensure documents are properly organized, updated, and accessible.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate library records.
  • Receive, log, file, and process new or revised technical documents.
  • Identify and purge obsolete documents in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain NAVSEA and manufacturer technical literature.
  • Support and maintain the Virtual Technical Library (VTL).
  • Distribute technical documents as requested.
  • Order and maintain library supplies.
  • Provide customer service and respond to technical documentation requests.
  • Pick up and deliver technical documentation to government facilities within a 45-mile radius.
  • Travel to ships, shipyards, contractor facilities, military bases, and other locations as required.
  • Go aboard ships to support inventory, scanning, pickup, and delivery of technical documentation.
  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications

  • Active security clearance required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3 to 6 months of prior clerical, customer service, administrative, or library experience.
  • Ability to go aboard ships for inventory and scanning projects.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat, including adding bookmarks to technical manuals.
  • Ability to travel within and outside the United States as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and work independently when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting a technical library, document control function, or government contract environment.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA documentation, manufacturer technical manuals, maritime technical publications, or shipboard documentation.
  • Experience working in a military, maritime, shipyard, or federal contractor environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage documentation requests in a timely manner.

Work Environment

This position may require work in office environments, government facilities, shipyards, military bases, contractor facilities, and aboard ships. Travel within and outside the United States may be required based on the needs of MSC, the Contracting Officer’s Representative, Technical Point of Contact, or Library Supervisor.

The employee must be able to safely access ships, shipyards, and government facilities and perform duties that may involve walking, standing, lifting, carrying, scanning, filing, and handling technical documentation.

 

Compensation

This is an SCA-covered position.

  • Base Wage: $18.34 per hour
  • Estimated Annual Base Wage: $38,147.20 annually, based on 40 hours per week
