Deliver mission-driven emergency medical care to veterans at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. This opportunity is ideal for Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine physicians with recent emergency care experience who are committed to providing high-quality, veteran-centered healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive onsite emergency department (ED) services in accordance with American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) guidelines.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and emergent medical conditions across a broad patient population.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the VA’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality emergency care.
- Adhere to VA policies, The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, and facility-specific protocols.
- Maintain professional conduct in alignment with Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
Licensure:
- Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Physicians with prior license restrictions, suspensions, revocations, voluntary surrenders, or denials will not be considered.
Board Certification/Eligibility:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
- Physicians certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine must have at least 2 years of substantial, recent (within the past 5 years) experience in an emergency department setting.
Certifications:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
Credentialing & Privileging:
- Must comply with VHA Directives 1100.20 and 1100.21 for credentialing and privileging before providing services.
- Approval by the Facility Medical Executive Board and Medical Center Director is required before any work commences.
Technical Proficiency:
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Must demonstrate current clinical competency and provide verifiable evidence of education, training, and experience (including explanation of any gaps).
- Responsible for adhering to all facility standards governing medical practice and conduct.
