Position Summary:
We are seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) – General X-Ray to provide radiologic imaging services at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) and affiliated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). This position is contingent upon the award of the contract and will begin upon notification of award and successful onboarding.
The selected candidate will support the Radiology Department by performing a full range of general diagnostic X-ray procedures, including portable imaging and fluoroscopic studies, following all VA standards, protocols, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general radiographic procedures, including:
- Chest, extremity, abdomen, spine, and skull imaging
- Portable radiography (including C-Arm)
- Fluoroscopy (GI series, myelograms, etc.)
- Contrast studies under supervision
- Prepare and position patients and equipment for exams
- Explain procedures clearly to patients
- Ensure image quality and proper labeling
- Transmit and archive images in PACS
- Maintain accurate records via CPRS and Radiology Vists
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and meet infection control protocols
- Collaborate with radiologists and technologists in a team environment
- Provide timely response to on-call needs (30-minute response time required when on-call)
Minimum Qualifications:
Certification:
- ARRT (Radiography) – Required
Licensure:
- California Radiologic Technologist License
- California Fluoroscopy License
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of recent full-time experience (within the past 3 years) in General Radiography
- Experience with portable and C-Arm imaging
- Must be proficient with PACS and electronic health record systems (CPRS/VistA)
Other Requirements:
- Current BLS Certification (AHA preferred)
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
- Must speak, read, and write English fluently
- Must provide own scrubs
Work Schedule:
- Shift-based coverage may include:
- Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays
- 8 to 12-hour shifts, as needed
- On-call support may be required, with a 30-minute report time
