Position Overview
Our team is seeking a highly experienced Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) to lead quality assurance initiatives across federal construction projects. This critical role ensures all construction activities meet stringent contract specifications, regulatory standards, and safety requirements. The CQCM will serve as the quality champion, overseeing inspection processes, managing compliance documentation, and fostering excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) is responsible for managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific and multiple projects to ensure the projects are constructed by the established minimum standards. The CQCM role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the workflow process, and working with other in-house personnel (e.g., Project Managers, Superintendents, etc.) and external personnel to produce and document a quality product.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ construction experience in construction quality control
  • Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work
  • Have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the contract, each subcontract, and the plans and specifications to assist the Project Manager in the development of the onsite procedures.
  • Create, update, and maintain the project submittal log and all other project-specific quality control reports
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary
  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings and provide written minutes as described in project-specific contract documents
  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project’s established standard, and constructively confront non-conformances to produce the desired outcome promptly
  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use in the project
  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems
  • Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 10 years’ federal contracting as a CQCM on federal agency projects in the construction industry with a general contractor engaged in general building construction
  • We do not hire owner’s representatives (QAs); the responsibilities are very different from a GC CQCM. 
  • Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques
  • A combination of a high school diploma with QC experience and certifications will be considered
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers “Construction Quality Management for Contractors” Certification
  • Safety certifications will be favorably considered
  • MUST HAVE architectural experience inside a federal building, preferably SCIF experience. “Overseas work, civil, or local site testing (ECS, Hillis, Carnes, etc.) does NOT count. 
  • US citizenship with no dual citizenship is the minimum requirement for the clearance process. 
  • Experience similar to Pentagon and DoD projects.
  • Demonstrate that the candidate maintained long-term employment (beyond 1-2 years), as our projects span up to 7 years and require consistency and commitment.
